Available Courses

  • A course for prospective Learning Champions to support them in recognising and understanding good learning and supporting people in to learning.

    Run by Cumbria CVS with NLDC (Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities) funding from the LSC

  • The MDTP is a Level 3 accredited course which focuses on management specifically within the Third Sector. You will explore the various aspects of management within the sector, learning from the trainer, each other and yourself. This online and optional component of the course is being piloted to see whether it complements your learning journey.

  • An induction course providing an introduction to issues around equality and diversity.
  • A series of IT training courses covering Microsoft Office applications, tailored to meet specific requirements of the CVS.

  • This course will offer the opportunity to gain the basic skills needed for online teaching.
  • Welcome to the Learning Advocates Adult Learners Week On-line course.  This course has been developed to celebrate Learning at Work Day (20th May 2010).  On the course you can try out British Sign Language and learn how to use Social Networking Sites.  Hope you enjoy the course and share it with work colleagues.

  • This is a programme aimed at increasing knowledge, skills and understanding in order to represent the interests and needs of local communities.
  • Welcome to the Workplace Learning Advocates On-Line course.   This free on-line course gives you the knowledge to find free/subsidised/other training for your work colleagues and shows you how to promote this information within your company.

    The course was developed in the North West region by The Johnston Partnership with funding from the Skills Funding Agency/European Social Fund.  Current funding: Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.

  • Welcome to the Learning Advocates E-Learning Platform which is now funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) through their European Social Fund (ESF).

    Some of you have taken part in the Learning Advocates 4 day training and some of you have taken part in the Learning Supporters 2 hour training.  All of you are trying to encourage your work colleagues, volunteers and clients into training.  We want YOU to use this E-Learning Platform to talk to us and to each other about the things that you're doing in your companies to get learning happening.   We're going to set aside dates over the next few months when you can log on and have discussions with us and other advocates and supporters.  We hope you find this useful.  Liz & Graham Johnston

    What is the course about?

    The aim of the course is to introduce you to a range of skills and knowledge which will help you to understand your strengths and abilities and relate them to a learning or career choice.   You will:

    ·         Get the chance to try out lots of different vocational areas - construction and land use, social work, childcare & welfare services, customer care (retail and tourism), engineering & transport (bus/truck/train driving), admin/business/legal and more!

    ·         Produce your own Career Action Plan.

    ·         Find out how to surf the internet and study using a computer.

    ·         Find out how to apply for jobs and courses.

    ·         Get the chance to work towards a Level 2 qualification which is awarded by OCNNWR (OpenCollege Network North West Region).

Welcome to the Moodle site for the Cumbria Council for Voluntary Service. This site aims to act as a portal for training relevant to the third sector in Cumbria. It will host a combination of our own Cumbria CVS courses, as well as relevant courses provided by others. As we progress our e-learning strategy we will be introducing additional blended learning and online courses; watch this space.
